Thank You for Your Support in Our Golf Challenge for CCAA!
In June this year, we embarked on an incredible golfing challenge to raise funds for CCAA (Kids with Arthritis). We aimed to conquer the highest golf courses in England, Wales, and Scotland, all within a thrilling 24-hour period. We are excited to share that we raised a total of £3,001 for this important cause! The journey was both physically demanding and deeply personal, and we couldn’t have done it without your generous support!
We started our adventure in Wales, playing at West Monmouthshire Golf Club, which reaches an impressive altitude of 1,519 feet. With our clubs in hand and spirits high, we embraced the challenge of playing full rounds while walking the courses and carrying our gear. After our first round, we hit the road for a 285-mile drive to Cumbria, where we played at Alston Moor Golf Club, soaring to heights of 1,476 feet. Finally, after an 86-mile drive north into Scotland, we concluded our challenge at Leadhills Golf Club in Biggar, reaching 1,500 feet just before last light.
This challenge was inspired by our personal journey with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). In 2021, our Commercial Director, Adam Tanner, saw his youngest son, Jenson, begin experiencing knee pain that ultimately led to a diagnosis of arthritis. Within just four weeks, Jenson’s condition worsened to the point where he was unable to walk and relied on a zimmer frame and a wheelchair. However, thanks to the fantastic work of the research team at Bristol Children’s Hospital and the support of CCAA, he was able to start a drug trial and began improving rapidly after this short period.
The assistance from Bristol Children’s Hospital has allowed Jenson to access innovative treatments that have significantly improved his quality of life, enabling him to enjoy activities like any other 10-year-old, even amidst the challenges he faces.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Mark Mason, a lifelong friend of Adam, for organising this trip, and to Adam's brother and business partner, Ashley Tanner, who participated in the challenge with us. Your support made this event even more special.
We are also incredibly grateful to our fantastic sponsors who donated a massive £500 each: OfficeNET Systems and Thorn Homes. Additionally, a big thank you to Penguin Uniform for providing us with our golf wear for the day. Your generosity contributed significantly to our success!
Thank you once again to everyone who donated and supported us! Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of children living with arthritis.
